Assuming that you stored the engine with no oil and sealed off all openings,
proceed as follows: Make sure that the drain plug is tight. Pour in the
normal amount of oil. Remove the sparkplugs, along with the oil cooler or
cooler adaptor block. With a squirt can that is filled with the same engine
oil, fill the oil galleys on the top of the block. Now, as you turn the
engine over backwards (rotating the pulley counter-clockwise) for approximately
40 revolutions, continue to fill the galley nearest the distributor. A ratchet
and 30 mm. socket work well here.
Replace the oil cooler and adaptor block, making sure that the seals are
sound. Also replace your oil filter with a new one which you have filled
with as much oil as it will soak up. When everything is reassembled, crank
the engine over until you have achieved oil pressure.
Watch for leaks and recheck oil level. Adjust if necessary. Now, replace
the spark plugs and start it up. Keep an eye open for leaks and on the pressure
gauge. Run for 30 seconds... you are now ready.
GOOD RACING!!!
